Four hundred members of the San Francisco labor community came out to celebrate Labor Day weekend with an annual breakfast hosted by the San Francisco Labor Council on Friday, Sept. 4.
Former Speaker of the House and current minority leader of the House of Representatives was the keynote speaker of the event, held at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway. Congresswoman Pelosi spoke of the importance of the labor movement in keeping the nation’s economy strong.
“Middle-class economics, not trickledown economics, is key to America’s success,” Pelosi said.
Other speakers included California Federation of Labor Executive Secretary-Treasurer Art Pulaski, San Francisco Labor Council Executive Director Tim Paulson and Olga Miranda, Secretary Treasurer of the San Francisco Labor Council and President of SEIU Local 87.
“Every day is a Labor Day for organized workers,” Miranda said.
