kingSan Francisco – The late Stanley E. Warren, former secretary/treasurer of the San Francisco Building & Construction Trades Council, will be honored with an award bearing his name at the 22nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Labor and Community Breakfast. Incoming U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be the guest of honor.

The event, sponsored by the MLK Civic Committee, will be held Monday, Jan. 15 at the San Francisco Hilton, 333 O’Farrell St., beginning at 8 am.

The Stanley E. Warren Award will recognize the labor official who has most exemplified Dr. King’s dream of providing opportunities for minorities in the building and construction trades. Warren was secretary/treasurer of the San Francisco Building & Construction Trades Council from 2000 until his death in 2005.

“Stan took great pride in being bilingual and improving the line of communication to a diverse membership,” said Cornell Fowler, an event organizer. “This award is a fitting tribute to a man who went out of his way to steer minorities toward first-rate apprentice programs.”
