Drywall-Lathers PDF Print E-mail
Drywall-Lathers install wire mesh (lath) backing, often on a light metal framework called “furring,” to support plaster on both interior and exterior walls and on ceilings and soffits.  Drywall-Lathers build walls, ceilings, and soffits by framing with light-gauge rolled steel members and attaching large panels of gypsum and paper called “drywall” to this framing.

They understand the function of these building systems for fire control.  Welding is often used in building the steel framing.  Drywall-Lathers also attach drywall to wood framing built by carpenters.  Drywall-Lathers install doors and window frames and exterior wall covering systems.  Drywall-Lathers must be able to lift heavy materials and work in all kinds of weather.
