Bricklayer and Stonemason
Bricklayers construct walls, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, and
other structures from brick, concrete block, structural tile, or terra
cotta. They also install linings on industrial kilns and
furnaces. They must be able to lift more than fifty pounds
continuously and to work on scaffolds.
Apprenticeship
The Bricklayer and Stonemason Apprentice program involves:
- Four years (6000 hours) of on-the-job training
- Must attend school two Saturdays a month
Pointer-Cleaner-Caulker
Pointers-Cleaners-Caulkers caulk and seal joints in buildings and other
structures to make them watertight. They apply cold membrane
waterproofing in liquid or sheet good rolls. They pressure-inject
epoxy into fractures and cracks in buildings to restore structural
integrity. They power wash buildings. They must be able to
work on swinging scaffolds up to five hundred feet above the ground.
Apprenticeship
The Pointer-Cleaner-Caulker Apprentice program involves:
- Three years (4500 hours) of on-the-job training
- Must attend school two Saturdays a month
Marble Mason
Marble Masons cut, tool, trim, set and
polish marble slabs in floors and walls. They must be unafraid of
working at heights.

The Marble Mason Apprentice program involves:
- Three years (4500 hours) of on-the-job training
- Must attend school two Saturdays a month
Requirements for application for all three Bricklayer and Allied Crafts Apprenticeships:
- Valid driver’s license; and,
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
