The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted in December to approve a Land Use Plan for the redevelopment of Treasure Island and Buena Vista Island. The plan was endorsed by the San Francisco Building and Construction Trades Council.

transitDevelopers Submit Proposals for New Transbay Terminal

Proposals for development of the new Transbay Terminal were submitted to the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) in December by several teams of architects and developers. Plans call for a new Transit Center to replace the existing bus terminal at First and Mission and construction of three towers with a mix of residential, office, hotel and retail space.

New Law Targets Cheating Roofing Contractors PDF Print E-mail

The State of California is cracking down on roofing contractors who have been cheating workers’ compensation insurance. Under new legislation, Assembly Bill 881, roofing contractors will now be forced to carry workers’ comp insurance, even if they claim they don’t have any employees. The measure is aimed at rogue contractors who have been skirting the workers compensation law by underreporting the number of employees, misclassifying employees as independent contractors, or paying workers off the books.
